Your first massage can come with small questions that feel awkward to ask. What do I wear? Do I need to talk? What if the pressure is too much? These are ordinary questions, and you are welcome to bring them up. The appointment should make room for your preferences.
Before you book
Choose a style that sounds comfortable to you. Swedish Massage uses flowing strokes, while Thai Combination Massage adds assisted movement. You can read about each treatment, compare the session lengths, and call the spa if you want help choosing.
Check your booking confirmation for the time, location, and any arrival instructions. Leave enough room in your schedule that you do not have to rush straight from another commitment.
Tell your therapist what matters to you
You can keep this simple: “I prefer light pressure,” “Please focus on my shoulders,” or “I would rather skip stretching today.” Share relevant health information on your intake form and tell the therapist about any areas you want them to avoid. You do not have to know a muscle's name to explain a preference.
Ask about clothing and draping
Arrive in comfortable clothing and ask your therapist to explain the setup for your chosen treatment. Discuss clothing, positioning, and professional draping before the session starts. If anything is unclear, pause and ask. You can decline a technique or ask to stop at any time.
You can be quiet, or speak up
There is no need to keep a conversation going. You can say, “I would love a quiet session.” At the same time, a short request about pressure, temperature, or position is always welcome. Try “A little lighter, please” or “Could we change positions?” You are not interrupting the appointment by making it more comfortable.
Keep the first visit simple
You do not need an enhancement to have a complete massage. If you enjoy scented treatments, ask about the available enhancements and their cost before adding one. Share any scent preferences or sensitivities as part of that conversation.
